MEASURING STUDENTS' PERFORMANCE: WHAT DO STUDENTS, EMPLOYERS, MARKS, AND STATE TESTS SAY ABOUT STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES

Resumen

The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the students' perception of achievement of learning outcomes was correlated with employers' perception of students' achievement of learning outcomes, students' courses marks, and the students' scores of the national professional state exams (Saber Pro). This is a cross-sectional study in which we used a mixed-method research approach that included a paper-based 5-point Likert questionnaire (from “1”- strongly disagree to “5” - strongly agree) to measure the students' and employers' perception of achievement learning outcomes, and focus groups. The study involved 50 graduated students from a biomedical engineering program. Pearson correlation between the variables of our study was calculated. The alpha level of significance for all the tests was set at p ≤0.05 (two-sided). The SPSS V 22.0 statistics package was used to generate descriptive, univariate, and bivariate statistics, respectively.
