Quantum computing is an emerging field with tremendous potential to revolutionize a range of industries. In this context, it is essential for aspiring systems and computer engineers to develop a strong foundation in both the principles and applications of quantum computing. This paper presents the design of a micro-curriculum for teaching quantum computing within the Systems and Computer Engineering program at the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC). Its development was grounded in a thorough review of the literature on quantum computing and informed by consultations with field experts. Key components considered include the learning objectives, thematic content, teaching and learning strategies, instructional resources, and assessment methods. The proposed micro-curriculum spans topics from the fundamentals of quantum mechanics to practical, real-world applications of quantum computing. It incorporates active and participatory methodologies—such as problem solving, teamwork, and computer simulations—alongside continuous learning assessments to ensure ongoing progress. Overall, this flexible and adaptive micro-curriculum provides a comprehensive and up-to-date introduction to quantum computing that meets the evolving needs of both students and the university.
