Abstract

The research focused on proposing a photovoltaic solar panel system for implementation at the El Coche Automotive Diagnostic Center (CDA), aiming to optimize energy consumption and reduce electricity billing costs. Additionally, it seeks to promote the use of renewable energy sources as a sustainable alternative to dependence on the conventional power grid. For its development, a detailed analysis of energy consumption patterns over the past year was conducted, allowing for an adequate system sizing. The optimal number of solar panels was determined based on solar irradiation data obtained from NASA's database, which indicated an average of 4.4 kWh/m². Likewise, the company’s equipment electricity consumption and billing data were evaluated, identifying a peak power demand of 14,500 W. Based on these calculations, the need to install 32 solar panels of approximately 500 W each was established. The study also included a financial analysis demonstrating the economic feasibility of the project. A return on investment (ROI) of approximately seven years was estimated, representing a short period compared to the solar system's lifespan. Additionally, an ROI analysis based on the company's financial information confirmed that the implementation of the photovoltaic system would generate significant savings in operating costs and contribute to environmental sustainability. Finally, it was concluded that installing solar panels is not only economically viable but also optimizes energy use and fosters the transition to renewable sources. It was recommended to evaluate multiple suppliers and provide staff training to ensure efficient system usage and maximize long-term benefits.
