Integrating artificial intelligence into service learning for engineering education

In this article, the authors continue their research on the problems of Higher Education, which began with the questions raised in 2023 in the document "Engineering Learning. Are we doing homework?" Which then continued with a novel proposal with Service Learning as a path for engineering education in 2024. At that time, several proposals had already been explored, like those in the United States, Colombia and in Peru that were also exhibited at ACOFI 2024. Despite the fact that at this time Service Learning is recognized as an effective methodology in the training of engineers, in a world that has been suffering the accelerated impact of Artificial Intelligence, it is essential to explore the possible integration of the two concepts in such a way that this methodology can be effectively enhanced. In this article, the authors intend to introduce the topic of the integration of AI in Service Learning and raise some concerns about it.
