Abstract

The Cancer Population Registry of the Municipality of Pasto (RPCMP) in Colombia, has the mission of periodically and reliably collecting data on cancer incidence in Pasto. This information supports government entities in decision-making for public policies aimed at implementing prevention and rehabilitation programs, as well as serving as a foundation for research. This article describes the progress of the project aimed at equipping the RPCMP with Yachay, an intelligent georeferenced system for knowledge management. This system integrates applications, infrastructure, and tools that provide descriptive and predictive information in a timely manner and with high-quality standards, effectively contributing to its mission. The project development follows a methodology structured in three phases, during which key modules are built: the georeferenced transactional module, the data warehouse, and business intelligence. To ensure Yachay’s scalability, modularity, and maintainability, the three-tier architecture has been adopted, consisting of the presentation layer (front-end), the business logic layer (back-end), and the data layer (database). With the implementation of Yachay, RPCMP fully enters the era of Industry 4.0, strengthening the reliability, comprehensiveness, and quality of its data. Additionally, this system will position it as a leading cancer registry at regional, national, and international levels, contributing to the development of public policies that reduce the impact of cancer on society.
