Governmental organizations have promoted the use of educational technologies as a strategic tool to ensure inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education that fosters autonomous and lifelong learning. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been recognized as a high-potential tool for enhancing educational processes, due to its capacity to personalize content, adjust the pace of instruction, and automate formative feedback. However, its adoption in Colombia remains at an early stage, primarily due to the limited technical and pedagogical expertise among educators and the lack of adequate technological infrastructure in many educational institutions. This challenge is even more critical in the case of students with Deaf student, who require specialized resources and adaptive interfaces to access educational content effectively. In response to this scenario, the present doctoral research proposes a characterization of AI-assisted learning platforms designed for Deaf students, conducted through a systematic literature review guided by the methodology established by Kitchenham. During the data extraction process, three analytical categories were defined: AI tools and techniques, theoretical-pedagogical foundations, and platforms that integrate AI with Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The findings reveal a predominant use of Deep Learning techniques and tools such as MediaPipe for visual recognition tasks. Nevertheless, only a few platforms are tailored to primary or secondary school students, with most developments driven by commercial interests rather than educational equity. Furthermore, current solutions fail to support real user autonomy for deaf learners, highlighting the urgent need to integrate AI with accessibility principles and UDL to ensure learning platforms that are more inclusive, flexible, and responsive to the diverse needs of their users.
